99 problems, and a book ain't one

    Perfect Kind of Trouble is the second installment in the Finding Fate series. I loved the first book, Best Kind of Broken, and it seems Chelsea Fine has another great addition to what's shaping up to be a fantastic series. I adore the way that Fine writes about love. I would even venture to say that Perfect Kind of Trouble out shinned it's predecessor in that aspect. Not even just the romance. There was such beauty in all the relationships, Kayla and her father, Daren and Kayla's father, Daren and his nanny, and the smaller characters along the way as well, the bakery owner, and of course Ellen.

    This story was about so many valuable life lessons, not judging a book by it's cover, and money can't buy happiness, being the two that stand out the most in my mind.  I liked that Daren and Kayla were both dealing with similar issues but in different ways. Daren's life was so freaking sad! His false bravado, loneliness, and lack of self worth were absolutely tragic. He was so much different than the face he put on for the world. I wasn't quite prepared for the depth of his troubles and pain, it truly surprised me.

I feel like a lot of the times with stories like this it's mostly the women who struggle so hard with these issues, so I found it to be really nice to see a guy dealing with it this time around. Kayla had a heart wrenching story as well. I honestly don't know what was worse, to have Daren's life of never really having your parents be there and care much about you, or Kayla's burden of having a great childhood with her parents, but to have that radically change in her teenage years. This book was an impossibly hard journey for Kayla. To be deceived and wronged the way she was, and then to have no way to express all her anger, regrets, love, sorrow, anything at all to the people that affected her so....it was hard to see. The only real complaint I had about this book would be with Kayla. While I loved so much about her, and could see where her being gorgeous could be not always the best thing, I felt like that was way too large and overused. I find it hard to believe that so many people were always that cruel to her because she was so pretty. It just seemed over the top a little. I would have liked to see that part tamed down a bit.

    I thought Daren and Kayla, two people that really didn't know each other, being handcuffed together and lead on this wild goose chase for an inheritance was a unique and fantastic story. It helped lighten up the seriousness of their individual harsh realities. There were some funny and charming moments, and my god the chemistry between these two was burning off the pages! Kayla's father, the master mind behind this troublesome union might have been gone, but he was such a big part of the story, it felt as if he was right there the whole time.

He was one of my favorites! He was insightful and youthful in the best possible ways. I loved that he was guiding them through not only their handcuffed escapade, but also through their messy lives. Daren and Kayla both needed this journey in a desperate way, it was just in a different way than they were thinking, and the treasures they received were so much more valuable than they could have possibly hoped for.

  This was a beautiful story with so many quotable moments. I highly recommend reading this book and the previous one too. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series, Fine has not disappointed yet and I don't see that changing any time soon.
